Vitamin D Helps PREVENT Breast Cancer

Breasthealth

Vitamin D is becoming a very important little vitamin!

It's been known for a while that Vitamin D is a key player in the overall health of many body organs and systems -- one of these systems is breast health, but more importantly, breast cancer prevention.

The reason *prevention* is so important is that we know what routes are available for treatment after a woman gets breast cancer, but to prevent it in the first place seems the ultimate goal. Afterall, not all breast cancer patients are survivors. In fact, according to Cancer.org, in 2009, approximately 40,170 women are expected to die from breast cancer. Only lung cancer accounts for more cancer deaths in women.

Vitamin D plays a key role in this very important prevention role. There are a few ways to increase your Vitamin D levels.

  • Supplement! Vitamin D is readily available in supplemental form. First, get an easy blood test from your doctor to determine your baseline levels. Based upon those results, you can determine your proper supplementation level.
  • Get outside! Exposure to UVB triggers the natural Vitamin D manufacturing process in our bodies. Moderate sun exposure also has other benefits such as increasing mood, as well. Just be careful to not burn and increase your risk of melanoma.
